SPIRITS AND SAINTS

This activity is an introduction to some of the spiritual and religious aspects of the Huron-Wendat culture.

Your guide will introduce you to the Huron-Wendat cosmogony through its creation myth “The Legend of Aatentsic, the woman who fell from the sky”, as well as important concepts of animism, such as the circular conception of the world. You will learn about the changes brought about by Christianity and some important figures, including Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the only Indigenous saint in North America.

This activity, of a duration of 2h30, is available to groups only and includes:

  • A visit of the national longhouse Ekionkiestha’ with an emphasis on myths, tales, rituals, festivals, and ceremonies;
  • A visit of the museum’s permanent exhibition;
  • An in-depth visit of the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette church.
