In this unique workshop, high school students are invited to explore significant events in Indigenous history in Quebec through interactive and dynamic research using archival documents. Following group analysis of the archival material, a guided discussion of reflections will be led by the museum’s facilitator. The workshop aims to refine students’ critical thinking skills regarding Indigenous issues with which they have little or no knowledge. By focusing on comprehensive contextualization, pre-selected archival materials, and their own deductions, students will be able to connect new information with their existing knowledge to consider these events from an Indigenous perspective.

Please note: Several sensitive topics are addressed in this workshop, including residential schools, the Scrooge Scoop, the Indigenous housing crisis, etc. While these topics are discussed with sensitivity and integrity, they may still be difficult for some participants. Upon request, when booking, certain topics can be omitted from the workshop.
