"Holiday season" activities

The holiday season is always a magical moment to experience with family or friends.

To bring this magic to life, the Huron-Wendat Museum, has put together a program that includes activities that will delight both young and old, from December 20th 2023 to January 3th 2024 (Closed on Christmas day and New Year's day).

Activity Descriptions :

 Ohcha’ (winter) discovery tour

With a guide, visit the Territories, memories, knowledge exhibition, the Ekionkiestha’ national longhouse and the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette church. In addition to playing some traditional Huron-Wendat games and discovering the oldest Canadian Christmas carol in the Wendat language!

Duration: 2 hours

Guided tour

With a guide, visit the Territories, Memories, Knowledge exhibition and the Ekionkiestha’ national longhouse and learn about traditional Huron-Wendat games!

Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

FR : 10:00 a.m. and 13h30 p.m.

EN : 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Special holiday corn doll workshop

Our team will guide the whole family in making your cornhusk doll. A variety of accessories will be at your disposal so you can convey the holiday spirit! Use your imagination to create a corn doll embodying the enchanting atmosphere of Christmas and New Year.

Yaronta’ The Wendat festive tree

Hang your favorite Wendat word on our Holiday Tree and get a chance to win a pair of tickets or a family package for our new permanent exhibition in the spring of 2024!

Toy Drive

The Huron-Wendat Museum is organizing a toy drive from November 10 to December 10 (inclusively), to allow a greater number of children to receive a present for Christmas. All donations collected will be taken to Friperie Agoshin, an organization in Wendake, allowing individuals and families to acquire goods at low prices.

With each donation, we will give out a coupon to fill out for a chance to win a pair of tickets or a family package for our new permanent exhibition in the spring of 2024!

Follow the drive’s progress! We will be posting about our favorite donations on social media. Fallow us on Instagram and Facebook!

Drop off times are between 9 a.m. and 3:30p.m., Thursday through Sunday at the Museum’s main entrance.

 

This programming is for all ages. Some activities are chargeable, including:

– Workshop on making a talking stick ($)

– The “Myths and Legends” activity ($), in the evening, in the Ekionkiestha’ longhouse

– Ohcha’ guided and discovery tours ($)

– The corn doll workshop special for the holiday season ($)
