{"id":1167,"date":"2021-01-08T17:46:29","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T16:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.museehuronwendat.ca\/?page_id=1167"},"modified":"2025-01-29T14:01:52","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T19:01:52","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/museehuronwendat.ca\/en\/more-info\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>History<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Since the 17th century, in collaboration with many stakeholders, the great Wendat families have ensured that very distinct sets of their historical heritage are secured and preserved.<\/p>\n<p>In 1967 and again in 2006, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/en\/culture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minist\u00e8re de la Culture et des Communications du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a> recognized the importance of these unique assets and classified nearly 350 objects from the Huron-Wendat collection as \u201ccultural heritage of Quebec.\u201d The Mus\u00e9e Huron-Wendat is responsible for the ongoing management of these collections and their development.<\/p>\n<p>Since the 1980s, a succession of Wendat cultural agents have been mandated by the Huron-Wendat Nation Council to ensure the continuity of this spirit of conservation. These officials were able to inventory and group together many cultural identity assets on behalf of their community of Wendake, thus consolidating the basis of the collection of the current Mus\u00e9e Huron-Wendat. These successive cultural agents ensured a decisive safeguard leading to the creation of the museum in 2008, following the direct will of the Huron-Wendat Nation Council.
